It’s well known that Donald Trump like to use foreign workers for his hotels. Now he’s trying to do it for his another of his businesses.
On December 2nd, Trump asked the Department of Labor for six H2 visas for foreign workers. This time the workers will be for the Trump Vineyard located in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The workers will be picking grapes for the first half of 2017. They will be working full time for $10.72 an hour.
This represents more hypocrisy on the part of Trump. The man who famously promised to bring jobs back to America continues to give American jobs to foreigners.
These jobs could easily be done by unemployed Americans. Trump, however, would rather bring in foreign workers and pay them less.
The application also represents a ridiculous conflict of interest for Trump. The application has to go through the Department of Labor, which will answer to Trump in less than a month.
Trump’s Labor Secretary appointee and Hardee’s/Carl’s Jr. CEO Andrew Puzder will be the one reviewing the visas. One guess as to what the answer will be.
According to George W. Bush ethics attorney Richard Painter, Trump would be in violation of a longstanding conflict of interest policy if he not fully removed from his businesses and hasn’t liquidated those assets before inauguration day. You know it’s bad when a Bush attorney is calling out Trump.
Trump has claimed that he owns the vineyard, but the vineyard’s website says that Eric Trump is the owner. It’s a clear conflict of interest either way.
This is turning out to be the most corrupt Presidential administration in US history, and we haven’t even gotten to inauguration day yet!
